Self directed- Maira Kalman

Maira Kalman is an American painter that i discovered this year. I like her works but what i really took from her was her way of working, her process.

She´s always talking about the idea of "going for a walk", the way a walk allows your brain to empty.
She likes to walk like if she were waiting for the unexpected and to be surprised, walking without knowing what are you going to see, and that has become a very helpful method for me. I think that sometimes we need to go out and really look at things, we need to pay attention to everything surrounding us and later make the most out of it.

This helped me a lot especially in my self directed project, which is focused on observation of people and understanding the context in which we live.
